We're Hiring!
Job Interview Coach (Mock Interviews)
(Part-Time, Contract, Remote, US-Based)
We are growing our team! Bold Career Talk is looking for Interview Coaches to support our expanding client base. Our clients are high-performing corporate professionals—mid-career to executive-level—primarily in tech and adjacent industries such as marketing, product, sales, HR, and project management. Our clients are typically strong candidates who need coaching to refine their communication and break through final interview rounds.
What You'd be Doing
Clients in our Complete Support Interview Program go through a structured process to sharpen their interview skills. They begin with a self-guided training course that builds a strong foundation, followed by ongoing support via two types of coaching sessions, tailored to different aspects of interview prep.
You’ll start by leading Mock Interviews, which focus on helping clients feel fully prepared before an upcoming interview. This is a structured call in which you’ll simulate an end-to-end interview in the first half of the call, then provide feedback and specific suggestions for how to improve their answers and overall impression in the second half.
Over time, this role has the opportunity to take on more advanced Answer Strategy Sessions to help clients workshop their responses and talking points more thoroughly.
To start, you’ll follow a structured approach that our team provides to ensure consistency in these calls. However, as you gain experience and become comfortable, you’ll have the flexibility to adapt your coaching style and make the sessions your own.
Most clients work with their coach multiple times throughout their job search. While the coaching sessions are the primary focus of this role, we also expect you to respond to occasional client questions between calls in a timely manner (typically within 1-2 business days).
Since each client works with multiple coaches, you’ll be asked to share a few brief written key takeaways after each session to keep the team aligned and ensure a consistent coaching experience. Written feedback is not required for clients (only for internal purposes) —the focus is on verbal coaching and discussion.
Scheduling & Compensation
This is a contract role with flexible scheduling. You can take client sessions during weekdays, evenings, and/or weekends—whatever works best for you. However, since interviews are often time-sensitive, we ask that you consistently have at least 10 hours of open availability for clients each week, so clients can schedule calls in a timely manner. (This doesn’t mean you’ll be booked for all 10 hours every week, just that you need to have open slots for scheduling).
To start, you can expect to take about 3-4 coaching calls per week, with the potential to take on more as the business grows. Please note that client demand can schedule from week to week, so hours are not guaranteed.
Compensation: Flat fee of $400–$450 per client to start, typically covering four sessions per client. The majority of the fee is paid at the start, with the remaining portion after the client secures a job. Coaches who deliver strong performance and client satisfaction may have the opportunity to move up to $550–$600 per client.
Training & Onboarding
Training will consist of approximately 3-4 hours covering our coaching methods, best practices, and client experience expectations. The goal is for you to start taking client sessions as soon as possible following this. This training is unpaid as it is part of the onboarding process, but you’ll gain valuable insight into our approach and be set up for success in working with clients right away.
We’ll provide weekly feedback on one of your recorded coaching sessions once a week for the first 6 weeks, to make sure you’re aligning to our coaching framework and help you become a more effective coach.
Who Would Be a Great Fit?
We’re looking for someone who has a strong intuition for verbal communication and an ability to quickly pinpoint how to improve an interview response. You should enjoy helping high-performing professionals refine their messaging and be comfortable adapting best practices, rather than relying on rigid scripts.
Either formal career coaching experience OR a background in recruiting (or both) is strongly preferred.
Who Would Not Be a Good Fit?
This role isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay! You probably won’t enjoy this work if:
- You struggle with giving and receiving constructive feedback
- You’re looking for a scripted, step-by-step role. While we provide structured training, this role requires independent thinking, adaptability, and the ability to tailor coaching to each client’s needs.
- You prefer one-size-fits-all advice rather than offering detailed, high-level coaching. Our clients are high-level professionals who need nuanced, strategic guidance—not generic interview tips. You must be detail-oriented and able to give customized feedback.
- You don’t want any client communication outside of sessions – Clients sometimes have quick questions before or after sessions, so responsiveness (within reason) is expected.
- You’re looking for a short-term side gig rather — While this is part-time, we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us and build expertise over time, not just pick up a few extra hours here and there.
- You need a guaranteed number of hours each week (coaching demand fluctuates from week to week)
